Explore in the footsteps of Burke & Wills (visit the famous Dig Tree & historic reserve) this remote and fascinating area around the junction of the NSW, QLD & SA borders, known as Cameron Corner. Travel through giant sheep stations from over 100 years ago, witness the Moomba oil fields & mighty Cooper Creek at Innamincka. Travelling in our luxury 4WD Landcruisers, you can stand at the famous Cameron Corner,
and stay overnight at the "corner store". Hear the tales of the great Cattle drives as we
travel the Strzelecki Track - pioneered by Captain Starlight as he stole 1000 cattle from Queensland QLD in 1870. Later, Sidney Kidman & Co and many others made their fortunes on the track pioneered by Starlight.
Itinerary
Day 1 – Adelaide to Wilpena Pound
Start your adventure with a scenic drive from Adelaide through the rolling hills of the Clare Valley, one of South Australia's premium wine regions. Here, you'll have the chance to savor local wines and take in the lush vineyard landscapes before venturing north toward the rugged beauty of the Flinders Ranges. Along the way, we'll make stops at the historic towns of Quorn and Hawker, where you can step back in time and discover stories of Australia’s pioneering history.
As the day unfolds, we arrive at Wilpena Pound, a natural amphitheater of mountains and one of Australia’s most iconic geological formations. Check in to the comfortable Wilpena Pound Resort for a relaxing evening. Enjoy a delicious dinner surrounded by the grandeur of the outback’s rugged peaks and Cypress Pine and River Red Gum forests

Day 2 – Wilpena Pound to Arkaroola
Wake up to the sounds of the Australian bush, and after breakfast, embark on a walking adventure to Wangarra Lookout and the historic Hills Homestead, nestled within the heart of Wilpena Pound. Experience the serenity of this natural wonder as you hike through ancient landscapes, with panoramic views that will take your breath away.
Afterward, we continue through the remote wilderness of the Gammon Ranges National Park and on to the spectacular Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary. Marvel at the unique geological formations and unspoiled nature of this stunning region. Overnight at the Arkaroola Resort, where you’ll enjoy the outback’s peace and tranquility under the stars.

Day 3 – Arkaroola Walks and the Ridge Top Tour
Today is a day for adventure and awe. Begin with a peaceful morning walk along creek beds and take in the surrounding beauty. In the afternoon, prepare for the highlight of the day: the famous Ridge Top Tour. This exhilarating 4WD adventure will take you through some of the most rugged and breathtaking terrain in the region, offering stunning vistas of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It’s an experience that will stay with you for a lifetime. After a day of exploring, relax back at the resort.

Day 4 – Arkaroola to Broken Hill
After breakfast, we leave the mountains behind and head east toward the historic mining town of Broken Hill, traversing the expansive outback plains. Known as "The Silver City," Broken Hill is a hub of Australian mining history and a key destination in the heart of the outback. Explore this vibrant town, visit iconic art galleries, and step into the history that shaped the town's identity. Dinner at the historic Mario's Palace Hotel with extensive murals made famous in the movie Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Day 5 – Cameron Corner via Tibooburra and Milparinka
Departing Broken Hill, we embark on an epic journey through the Barrier Ranges along the Silver City Highway, heading into the heart of the Corner Country. Then, it’s off to Tibooburra, to refuel, the most remote town in New South Wales, where we visit the local pub and learn about its fascinating history.
Continuing through the Sturt National Park, we visit Fort Grey campground and the Wild Deserts site.The Wild Desert Program covers about 40,000 ha, where leading organisations are introducing locally extinct mammals, controlling invasive species and managing kangaroos to restore the desert ecosystem.
We then pass through the Dog Fence (5300 km long) and arrive at Cameron Corner, and the historic marker, where the borders of three states— New South Wales, Queensland, and South Australia—meet. After a day of exploration, enjoy a hearty meal and overnight stay at the "Corner Store" .

Day 6 – The Strzelecki Desert, Strzelecki Track and Moomba Oil Fields
Today’s adventure takes us deeper into the outback. We journey across the sand dunes of the Strzelecki Desert, stopping at historical landmarks like Bollards Lagoon and Merti Merti Station. On the Strzelecki Track we pass through the Moomba Oil and Gas Fields, one of Australia’s largest energy production areas, and learn about the processes that supply Australias energy
Arriving at the famous Innamincka Hotel check out the Cooper Creek, and we enjoy a relaxing evening in this historic outback town, with time to reflect on the history of the Burke & Wills expedition.

Day 7 – Dig Tree Cooper Creek and Tibooburra
A chance for an early walks and look at creek side birdlife - and quirky Innamincka - before we head for the S/ QLD border and Nappa Merrie Station (once owned by S. Kidman & Co) to the Burke & Wills Dig Tree. Here Burke & Wills support team waited 4 months and 5 days and provisions were buried for the northern explorers. The support left in the morning of the same day before Burke & Wills returned, but they were too weak to follow. Lots of history, and birdlife here on the infamous Cooper Creek. Heading south we travel through picturesque desert then sand hill country via Orientos, Santos and Sullivans Tank before crossing the border into NSW at the Warri Gate on the Dingo fence, and once again into the Sturt Desert. Taking in vast stony plains, the towering red-sand hills of the great Strzelecki Desert and the unusual flat-topped mesas around the Olive Downs, this park covers 340,000 hectares of classic outback terrain. Thanks to the protection of the dingo-proof fence, there are large populations of western grey and red kangaroos.
We arrive Tibooburra for dinner & overnight at the local hotel in this most remote NSW desert town.

Day 8 – Tibooburra Milparinka Sturts Steps Broken Hill
Today we take time to explore the Outdoor Pastoral Museum and marvel at the flat-topped mesas and granite tors of the Sturt Desert. As we journey south, we learn about Depot Glen and Poole’s Grave, significant sites where Charles Sturt's men were stranded during their search for an inland sea in 1845.
We stop at the once-thriving gold mining town of Milparinka, where you can wander through the beautifully restored Milparinka Heritage Precinct, and learn of the outstanding journeys of Sturt and success of Australias "Cattle King" Sydney Kidman
We continue through the stunning desert landscapes before arriving back in Broken Hill in the late afternoon, with memories of Australia’s wild outback landscapes and fascinating history. Tour completes in Broken Hill. accommodation own arrangements.
