Mungo National Park Tours Discover Outback NSW and this ancient landscape, travel the Darling River Run and explore Bourke & Wills camp and wetlands at Menindee Lakes and Kinchega National Park on this Mungo National Park Tour from Sydney to Broken Hill - return via Dubbo Taronga Western Plains Zoo to Sydney (overnight with the wildlife except in school holidays)

Day 1 – Depart from Sydney – travelling via the famous “Dog on the Tucker Box” (Canberra pickup available) over the Great Dividing Range to Wagga Wagga, and on past Narrandera in the Heart of Australia's food bowl, the Murray Darling Basin and Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, then Hay to see the Shearers Hall of Fame at Shear Outback and learn of the rich life in the wool industry in early NSW. Overnight Hay for a hearty local meal and overnight stop.

Day 2 – Into the desert and Mungo National Park to explore this ancient lakebed environment. Here the stories of the regions from Aboriginal guide (when available), and learn of the oldest known ritual burial in the world. Discover the Walls of China and megafauna history of the area, explore the ancient Willandra Lakes and the historic sheep station and large and impressive shearing shed that served the area for around 100 years. Overnight Mungo Lodge, Mungo National Park.

Days 3 – Travel the Darling River via Pooncarie, Menindee and Kinchega National Park. Explore the memorial to Burke & Wills camp on the lakeshore and a haven for wetland birds. Dinner at famous & delicious Mario’s Palace Hotel (full of murals from Priscilla Queen of the Desert fame) Overnight Broken Hill.

Day 4 – Explore Broken Hill highlights (your choice) including Pro Hart Gallery, The Line of Lode Lookout and Miners Memorial plus Desert Sculptures or Mutawintji National Park (optional extra cost for day tour) for exceptional rock art rich in Aboriginal history. Overnight Broken Hill

Day 5 - Depart Broken Hill via Wilcannia - once a rich and thriving port for the paddle steamers transporting wool and check out the spectacular sandstone architecture. We then cross the Darling River again and head for Cobar with its history of copper mining, and now gold. On via Narromine (gliding capital of Australia with a massive new solar farm) to arrive Dubbo Zoo for dinner and overnight with the Big 5 beasties.  Overnight Dubbo Zoo (No zoo stay rather nearby stay during school holidays)

Day 6 - Enjoy a morning zoo tour, then on to Mudgee for lunch at a vineyard and optional winetasting at Poets Corner, before the home run via Lithgow (check out the Zig Zag railway), and Bells Line of Road viewing the spectacular Grose Valley and a stop at the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens with spectacular seasonal blooms and numerous Wollomi Pines, then Bilpin to Sydney
